Today is my last day...without a Mustang

Post by Armchair Bronco »

Tomorrow I'm picking up my first Mustang, a '65RI in Oly White with the red tort pickguard.

I can't wait to lose my 'Stang virginity to this thing:

The seller didn't say whether it includes the all-important tremolo arm, so I made a prediction on http://ipredikt.com that it *will* include one. What do you think?

OK. I acutally thought about this briefly before I hit "submit". Maybe should have chosen my words more wisely.

But you get the idea. Haven't owned a Mustang...but later today, that'll change.

I voted for "will" have the bar since I want it to for your sake... but if it's not in the pics, I wouldn't expect it.

Well, I picked it up on Friday (without a trem arm, btw, so sorry if you voted "Yep", cause your score on http://ipredikt.com will go down). Restrung it yesterday with 10-52's, and took some pictures of it today.

Love this thing. The cleans are really chimey and twangy. It's pretty much impossible to push either one of my amps into overdrive without a pedal when I'm playing the Mustang.

The stock tuning machine can't handle 52's, so I had to use a 3-inch piece of 52 wire as a sort of file, dragging it back and forth for a minute or two to widen the slot. Then I had to use a tiny drill bit and my Dewalt cordless drill to ream out the hole in the low-E tuning machine. Now it can happily handle 52's.

I've always loved that color combo. My strat has the same, just looks sexy.
