Apparently I had extra money, because I went online and got me this:
Höfner Galaxie HCT-GLX-R for 233 €. Apparently they're supposed to be cheap, yet good.
First I thought I'd get the Colorama, but I really wanted a guitar with a tremolo, so I got this instead.
I'll do an review once it gets here.

Looks like a ton of fun: 3 pups, loadsa switches and a Jaggie style tremolo. I vote yay.
Hofner RI stuff is generally good quality as well, i once had a Colorama.

Congrats! Now you need a croc skin case for that bad boy.
That looks really nice actually. I really dig the Jag trem, although three-pickup guitars aren't my thing these days (they're basswood with a maple neck apparently...not bad at all). Even those basses are very stylish.
TBH I've never really seen Hofners 'in the flesh'; they're not used very often it seems. The Verythin CT looks like an ES-335 knock-off...except they seem to go for less than £400 online! The 'cheap, yet good' prediction could well be right...keep us posted on how that beauty sounds pls.
I spent about an hour in a store with the Hofner Club Solid and a few minutes with the Galaxy guitar and bass a while back. Shit-hot guitars for the paltry prices. If I were in the market for a £300 solidbody Les Paul-a-like then I'd go for the Club Solid, no question about it. The thing was really, really nice for the price.
First thing that sprung out at me with the bass was how stupidly thin the neck was in almost every dimension. Not in a bad way. It was a very, very easy bass to play from a guitarists point of view.

I KNOW. I'd love they'd made them in these colours, but I guess they take the guitarists to be more conservative than bass-players. That orange is soo hot.

I've always loved those inlays. I've seen a guy locally who has a vintage hofner bass that looks a lot like that. Sounded just like it looks; kinda like a precision but with some added thump. P cool.
