only thing with ordering vinyl from the states is getting pumped on shipping. i really wanted that whores 12" that came out recently but the shipping was more than the record! i might have to settle for digital.

yeah, shipping overseas is always real shitty. i'd imagine some uk distros will probably get this eventually, which should cut costs a little. i sell a lot of records on discogs.com, and i have to charge a flat $14 for shipping an lp (with nice new mailer/fillers and paypal fees) overseas. postage blows right now, and it's only getting worse.

Digging this a whole bunch, good woooooooooork!

What effects are you using at the start of Marquee Warfare; delay and.. a subtle octave up, or just playing by the bridge??

This totally reminds me of Country Teasers or The Rebel at the more odd, twangy parts. BRILLZ.

Bort.

slight delay and picking by the bridge for maximum brittleness (i have a p90 in my duo sonic, so it still doesn't get AS brittle as it would with regular duo pickups). at some point the other guitar player doubles up the riff on his fakenbacker. and i love me some ben wallers and that whole guided missile records scene (yummy fur, male nurse, lung leg, etc). that stuff probably comes through even more on the first lp: http://sorrystaterecords.bandcamp.com/album/whatever-brains

ha, there's a definite 'glasgow, 1994' vibe on the first album, now you mention it. i love the yummy fur, and the country teasers were genius- it's a shame they've been practically written out of scottish music history.

anyways, vinyl shipping is prohibitively expensive, so until it gets distribution over here i'll make do with MP3s. bought the RSD EP too. BANG.

WHATEVER BRAINS

Woah, they're a band! I listened to WB twice and I can tell ya, Not just a "good" band.

They don't just play guitar, they strum. Fast. The drums. They're not just playin drums. They're bangin those drums. And melody. They pick an unusual three chord progression and wear it out.

Left at that, this would be truly unbelievable music. But they take all this and sometimes play it really loud and the singer gets so excited he practically screams.

This is innovation we haven't heard since, like, I guess Devo.

sorry! i've never been able to book a single show in dc, so i don't even try anymore. and since we were trying to play more midwest stuff, the midatlantic got the shaft. maybe i can talk the dudes into one more show on the way back down. i kind of doubt it, though. dana at unregistered nurse was real cool last time around.
