Seen it before and loved it, I prefer things like this, stories about players and the guitars they use and their inspirations. I wish a lot of the magazines would do like wise.

Check this out.

Fucking awesome noises. Saxophone, harmonicas, synth-like volume swells. Just perfect control.

How does he get those warbly sounds with the trem? Anyone know?

It is fun to see a guitarist who has fans and people who admire his style talk about guitars and guitarists he admires and were the reasons for getting some of his guitars. Fun to see someone with fans talk about who he is a fan of. :)

The trem needs to set floating. It's easier with a floyd rose, you just flick the arm.

I love that video. It's from the Rock n Roll Party DVD. I only wish he played them a little bit more.

I watched the guitar collection video last month. I like how the video comments are almost nothing but references to the equivalent Nigel Tufnel scene in Spinal Tap, as Tufnel was based on Beck in the first place.

Beck even points out he's still got the ol' tagger on that Maccaferri at 13:08 or so.

I like the comment about how awful sounding those Gretsch acoustics are. I've played them and felt the same-and yes, even in the video, though played beautifully, the sound produced is worse than the cheapest acoustics I've played.

+1

That's why his Strats have the locking tuners and roller trees/nut.

That Duo-Jet... my god... that Duo-Jet. Quite possibly the best sounding guitars ever (don't tell my Jaguars...)

I had a colleague who hated The Shadows, loved Satriani, and was gutted to find out that Hank Marvin was one of Satriani's heroes.

I really enjoy the way this dude plays, sounds and even holds a guitar.

If anyone ever was a guitar hero, this guy is it. All in one man.

Well said.
By all accounts, whilst his contemporaries were doing tons of Coke and jacking up Heroin, he was fiddling around with vintage cars. He has continually progressed as a guitar player, he is humble and acknowledges his heros over his own ego. The man is a fucking role model.
