It sounds silly but i cant get past the horns/cutaways and the PRS body. Its the most boring combination of Strat meets Les Paul, the shape just holds no mystique for me no matter what hardware or finsh they use.
The singlecut models look better imo and they aren't exactly exiting.
I will stand by the fact that every PRS I've played has been ridiculously easy and nice to play. I would love a decked out one for fretboard gymnastics at home.
Every time I go for a guitar lesson I borrow my tutors guitar to saves me lugging a guitar with me to manchester on the train every week. Normally I play his signature Koentopp telecaster (hollow body, neck-thru design) which although lovely, is not my perfect guitar.
Today I borrowed his Korina PRS McCarty. It was the best playing guitar I've ever played in my life. I hate to say it, but I think I love PRS
I think I 'get' PRS now, still its not like I could afford one.
Not to be a nay sayer, but when people say they play amazingly well I can accept that the build quality, ergonomics etc are well designed etc, but when it comes to the playability then set up skills, and half decent hardware with adjustability, can make even cheap guitars play like lightening. I had a £70 Wesley Acrylic strat that I set up with unbelievably low buzz free action etc etc and have done so with all guitar's I've ever owned
I am wondering if these ideas are confusing the point with the fact that a boutique guitar probably leaves the work shop having had everything tweaked in a full set up. The majority of guitarists aren't too hot on set up knowledge hence all they know is that 'this guitar plays easier than that one, and it must be because it is super expensive'. From this misconception all cork-sniffery and blues lawyers doth follow.
