yeah, this is one of the few instances when i think the guitar doesn't really work without binding.

no worries, though. just send it to paul1k to be upgraded. problem solved.

I love Iverness, I love Pelham, and I love Les Pauls, but put 'em together and I'm never happy.

I just wanna shout out the window of my car at these things "GET A FENDERRRR" while my buddies inside laugh raucously and the LP looks at it's shoes and fights back tears.

Yeah, doesn't really work on a Les Paul. Is that baked maple on the fretboard? I think if the guitar industry is going ahead with they need to think about staining.

In real life baked maple looks much darker, much better.

You can lemon oil the board to darken it up too. I think the pehlam blue with a thoroughly oiled board would be tits McGee

Also, studio =no binding

This is what most of Gibson's rosewood of the past 10 years looked like as it appeared straight from the factory:

And this is baked maple, also straight from the factory:

I'm not certain oils would darken baked maple because it's not very porous, but I have no way of knowing that for sure. Oils darken rosewood quite a bit, but obviously it's very porous and becoming more thoroughly saturated with the oils. Even your finger oils through regular playing will darken a rosewood fingerboard in about 6 months.

Given that it lacks binding around the body it would be nice if Gibson would do a body contour on the back and one for the right arm on the front.

Ha ha. I've watched one or two of their videos. Often some interesting stuff, but it's usually 5 times as long as necessary.
