Thanks for the posts. It's insured so I will get my money back but it will be a long time before I find another one.

That's a damn shame.

Is there any evidence of trauma to the packaging? That looks like a funky place for a guitar to break, to me.

It almost looks like the string tension broke it from the pictures.

The damage is pretty extensive. It's not just the neck but also the body. There are cracks on the front of the bass horn and under the pickups too. Anyway,I had to send it back to the Japan to get a refund.

Just out of curiosity, who shipped the guitar? USPS? FedEx? DHL?

Such a shame. Really cool guitar, the body looks almost a perfect copy of a Rick 325 but it is actually a solidbody. The '50s 325s like Lennon first Rick and the 325c58 reissue are hollowbodys. The sixies 325s and all the other reissues like the v59 v63 and c64 are all semi-hollow.

Yes,but a bigger problem was the scant use of protective packaging. At least that's what the cats told me.

Yeah,I really don't understand this. The company I bought it from sells guitars worldwide so They should know how to pack it.

I've had 2 Teles, 2 Jags and a P Bass shipped from Japan with similar packing - only one in a case - and all arrived without a mark or a dent. Vive les bolt necks I guess. That's a horrible thing to happen to a cool guitar - sorry for your loss.
