NGD Sunburst Telecaster

Post by HNB »

It looks great! It is one of the 60th Telecaster Anniversary ones. It has quarter pounders and currently volume and mini toggle. I will likely convert it back to more stock. I might put a kill switch in the plate where the mini toggle is. Parchment Pearl pickguard, Fender locking tuners, maple neck. It is really pretty. Nice weight and feel. Very sturdy.

Pictures for now. I will try to do a sound demo when kids go down for a nap.

Trolling your kids?

Looks really nice!

I've had 2 telecasters, and although to this day I like the idea of having one again, I know I just wouldn't get on with it like before :(

It is nice. Actually it is pretty heavey. Feels solid. The quarter pounders sound really good. I put the normal knobs and switches back on so it looks more stock now.

I only have one other tele. It is an SQ serial Squier that is black with a maple neck. That one is really nice. This one is much heavier. I should weigh it. I did a demo. I will be editing the video soon.

I ordered new correct knobs and a new control plate since this one has a whole drilled in it. That should get it more back to stock. It sounds really nice. The pickups have a good growl/thump to them. Very cool. I also like heavy so the weight is nice. It feels solid.

EDIT: This is also my first American Fender to play with. The neck feels a bit wider than my Japanese Fenders. The fret trimming is great although it could do with a leveling. There was a bit of buzz so I took the action up a bit. It is better, but could be perfect with some fret dressing. Inside is shielded with paint and there is a barcode in the control route. When I get the new knobs and plate, I will take a pic and scan the barcode with my cell and see what it says. :)

I'm pretty sure you'll soon own every guitar known to man HNB

And yes, ditch pearloid for plain black.

Not sure on that guard either. It isn't the stock one I am pretty sure. I think those came with plain white ones. Haven't decided just yet.

Not much at all. I get by with trading guitars I have for other guitars normally. I traded a sunburst CIJ jazzy for this. I am a ceramics teacher. I don't make a lot of money.

Do people realize how impolite they sound when they ask these questions on forums?

Anyway, that new pickguard looks amazing! Congrats

My (polite) response to that sort of question would be, "if you need to ask how much it cost, that probably means you can't afford it." :P

That's a lovely 'burst BTW. I'm still not tempted to buy a Tele, but that doesn't stop me admiring other people's.

Re: neck widths. I've always wondered if US Fender necks are slightly wider than Japanese ones. I know the string spacing's slightly different*, but I just assumed the necks themselves are wider on US instruments for that reason.

*I don't even know why that is. Conversion from imperial to metric measurements, maybe?
