The tailpiece on that guitar looks like a modified version of the tremolo on my Fender Coronado II and a Mustang. Very Cool. I like how it has Fender on the flattened tube. I wish the Coronado had that.

Fender Lucite Duo-Sonic

1960
This particular guitar was made of Lucite for trade-show purposes. By using new synthetic materials, designers created an ultramodern look for the solid-body electric guitar.

I don't know if it's my eyes or my brain or what, but the upper horn on that one looks really odd to me - kind of enormous!paul_ wrote:

edit: maybe it's the lower bout actually. oh i don't know.
I'm fairly certain the whole thing was eyeballed, being a 1960 one-off for a tradeshow... either that or they just shaved some corners off here and there to reduce the weight/extended the horn to make it balance better, etc... who knows.markarkark wrote: I don't know if it's my eyes or my brain or what, but the upper horn on that one looks really odd to me - kind of enormous!
The pickguard at the control area is crazy too, though this may have been to conceal a ground wire from the bridge.

Non-paying auction winners - don't you just love 'em? "Sorry dude, but I won't be buying that geetar after all. My Mom just found out she needs a liver replacement procedure plus I got an unexpected garage bill, so no way can I raise the $28k as I'd thought to previously."NickS wrote:Whut? So now...relisted at $28,999.99?Bidding has ended on this item.
