Mid-2012 Squier Vintage Modified Jazzmaster Jaguar Mustang
Moderated By: mods
I definitely said less than a year ago looking at those Squier JMs/Jags they came out with that had Strat jacks and everything, "Squier Mustang with the proper trem and everything? NEVER fucking happen. Be a loooong time before Fender fork out the proper hardware for a Squier run of Mustangs" etc...
To see them come out at the same time as a Jaguar and Jazzmaster and fucking Tele Deluxe/Custom models with WRHBs is so crazy. They were working on that shit all along and going "lol, paul_ is such a chode".

Really hope that's the case and we're not going to get some 11th hour "not available in Europe" bombshell.othomas2 wrote:Probably added and removed in succession (shown as discontinued) as they're not supposed to advertise until July 2nd.vb/tim wrote:andertons saying discontinued on their site?

Hi !!!
Pretty sure you're right though. See to remember Andertons going early with something else fairly recently (Johnny Marr Jag? Marauder?) and then showing it as being "discontinued".
Absolutely! With all these offsets and those new Teles, amongst stacks of other stuff, Squier are fucking flying. The Mrs would go nuts if a van turned up with six new guitars thoughFran wrote:Hahahaha..paul_ wrote:They were working on that shit all along and going "lol, paul_ is such a chode".
It is quite incredible looking at the Squier range at the moment. There is at least six models i'd gladly buy tomorrow if i could afford or justify it.
UK shops are pre-ordering them as we speak... and just waiting till the 2nd July for the start of the online advertising to be allowed & then it can all go forward. I suspect we'll see them in the shop in about 3 weeks from now. I guess the US either have an earlier deadline or they're just being a little sneaky by getting them out earlier than they should. Fender, compared to other companies seem pretty chilled when it comes to all this... the guitars were starting to be shipped a few weeks ago.BearBoy wrote:Really hope that's the case and we're not going to get some 11th hour "not available in Europe" bombshell.othomas2 wrote:Probably added and removed in succession (shown as discontinued) as they're not supposed to advertise until July 2nd.vb/tim wrote:andertons saying discontinued on their site?

Looks really well put together.
Two small concerns:
1) Not as yellow a tint as I would like on the neck - this could be lighting though
2) I doubt the Duncan designed pickups will match up to the quality of Classic Vibes (Tonepros as many would believe), but let's be honest, most people will want to mod these guitars anyway.
EDIT: 3) The trem being so far away from the bridge will start a new slew and generation of Jaguar/Jazzy players complaining their bottom E strings pop out of the saddles with their 9 and 10 guages, and deem it a shit guitar.

No two vintage-tint glossed Fenders I have owned have had the exact same hue to the neck maple. Even my Jaguar and Jag-Stang, both CIJ Fenders made in the same factory the same month, are different.George wrote:

My '70s RI MIM Strat neck has the most natural maple look to it, but then it's quartersawn and flamey as fuck too, so it looks darker and brownish-golden-edged, etc...
RE: picture
oh my god.
Odd that they have the skunk stripe... presumably these are just the necks from those other Squier Jaguars?

The two classic vibes I have are almost identical. Very nice rich shade of yellow. That Jaguar, I would say, is pretty natural looking in that light. The pics on the Squier website look much darker though.paul_ wrote:No two vintage-tint glossed Fenders I have owned have had the exact same hue to the neck maple. Uhh, I should shut up about CVs I just want these guitars to be as good so am looking for comparisons.

My only concern is where the two E strings sit in the saddles. Is it normal for a non-US Fender or Squier to have E strings so close to the edges of the neck that it needs altering like that? It puts them away from being directly above the polepieces too...feel free to enlighten me on whether that affects sound quality/volume though.
Otherwise, that looks great. Might actually be enough to push me into buying a Jag if the price is right...
