Garbage offset

Post by dezb1 »

went to see Garbage in tba Barras on Wednesday and Steve Marker was playing a guitar I didn't recognise (which made my wife happy cause she likes to catch me out at the what kind of guitar is that quiz) turned out to be a henman mod his didn't have a trem it was a Gibson esque stop bar... quite cool apart from the headstock.

Interesting neck build/spec.

It did look better with the stop tail...WAY! too expensive though the only place selling them was charging $6000 odd for them.

They look heavy and bland. Basically a Strat scale Les Paul with a bigsby given a "glimpse of the future" makeover to command a ridiculous price. What the fuck is going on with those tuners? The whole thing looks awkward and uninspired

THE THREE PIECE NECK IS A UNIQUE TENSION-FREE DESIGN CREATED TO REMOVE TENSION FROM THE NECK ALLOWING THE GUITAR TO RESONATE LIKE NO OTHER. STRING TENSION IS LESSENED BY UP TO 80% OVER TRADITIONAL GUITARS. TRUSS BAR ADJUSTMENTS, WHILE RARELY NECESSARY, ARE CLEVERLY PERFORMED BY REMOVING A PLUG ON THE BACK OF THE GUITAR AND SIMPLY INSERTING A SUPPLIED ALLEN DRIVER AND MAKING MINIMAL TURNS IN THE DESIRED DIRECTION.
What does this even mean? It is a stiffer neck? Strings put tension on the guitar neck that is not going to change do to neck design.

It certainly looks the sort of guitar you couldn't make a good judgement on without playing. Though this will help if you want to try.

Huh? Tension is one of the variables in the Rayleigh wave equation for vibrating strings. Put 80% less tension in the string, it would be unplayably floppy. May make nice-looking guitars but can't explain things properly.

I like the tuners, and the two knobs. That's hardly minimalist. Minimalist would be one pickup NO KNOBS.

These actually manage to look better and worse than cheap Jazzmaster copies at the same time. The colors are nice - if you were decorating a bathroom. And the body looks like a Jazzmaster with birth defects. The never ending caps lock on the website don't help in letting me like it.

However, the headstock is familiar...

I actually quite like the bass but there's a lot of stuff on the website that makes the whole product look kind of shitty.
