Comp DuoStang build

I got a BC DiMarzio pickup for the bridge for this thing. I also have a set of MIJ Mustang pickups. I'm trying to decide how i want the switches set up. And im not that good at wiring and understanding how the switches work. I'd like to have the bridge pick up switch be set to split coil/full bucker/off for the bridge then have the other 3 way for the neck pickup basically be an off/on/off or get a 2 way switch for simply on and off. that was i can use either pickup individually, the bridge coil tapped if i want or use both in different combinations. Its basically the way the pawn shop mustang switching with on/off neck and off/single coil/humbucker for the bridge, and no 3 way toggle. Did anything i just say make sense? If so how easy or difficult would it be to pull this off? If i understood how the switches work and what connections were what i could figure it out im sure... i just need some education.

Some of it is easy but you put out a lot of options...
My diagram I used (minus the kill switch and tbx) might work for you. It has a pickup selector mod and the lower switch does single/off/humbucker for the bridge humbucker.

so i could bypass the killswitch by running the red from the input jack to the ground on the volume pot, then green from the south humbucker goes to the... jesus im comfused all of a sudden. whats with that tone knob? how is it different from a reg tone knob? green and shaded black from the south side humbucker both go to ground? thats exactly what i want to do, minus the fancy tone knob and understanding the colour combo on the diagram

Here you go. Since different humbuckers have different color codes, I just did red for hot and black for ground. Check the chart I included to see which color is which for your humbucker.

If i have any problems i'll just drive my ass down to Puyallup and have you look at it haha! I did have one question though. The ground that you have coming off the bridge pickup (in green), where is that going? Does that just mean ground the bare wire? I've copper plates thanks to cooderfinger and there's a wire lead soldered connecting them all, does it matter where its grounded to as long as it shares the common ground with the rest of the guitar?

more pics.. getting so close. then i can stop beating you all to death with my over-enthusiasm
Next to my PS 'Stang..
With the hardware laid out on it. The fret board has a weeeeiiird color grain in the wood. i though about dying it even but may just keep it the way it is. i sort of appreciate its gnarlyness.

LOL yup. All the arrows (including that green one) are ground wires and normally go to the back of the volume pot. Some humbuckers have a fifth wire to ground the humbucker base. If yours doesn't, you can ignore it in my diagram.Mattsican wrote:If i have any problems i'll just drive my ass down to Puyallup and have you look at it haha! I did have one question though. I updated the diagram because I retardedly had the humbucker going to the pickup selecter switch in the wrong place. It is edited. Should be like this:

I would leave the rosewood as is just because it colour-codes your fingerboard into punk/blues areas... your finger oils will darken up the lighter areas anyway within a year of regular playing/sweating.
The orange looks brilliant.
