1970s Gold Top Les Paul copy (with BIGSBY)

Post by luciguci »

I put up my OLP Music Master copy up on CL to trade for a Dot, SG, Danelectro, or other cool guitar that would interest me.
Today, I got an offer to trade for a 1970s Les Paul copy, gold top finish, mustache shaped headstock (it's blank, which is weird), has a Bigsby, and he says he upgraded the pickups. And judging by the last picture he sent, it's a bolt on, so now it doesn't seem that worth it.

Among the other things he offered were a Fender Sidekick 20 Chorus, Squier Bullet Strat with upgraded pickups and electronics plus a seven tone switch mod (can anybody tell me what that is?), and less interesting still, a Fender Frontman 15B and a DOD Tec 4x multieffects unit.

Here's some pics of the Les Paul:

I'd tell him to fuck off. He wants Your nice player for a pile of his crap he cant or is too lazy too sell. I doubt you'd want all that stuff and think about the legwork to sell it on.

7-tone mod sounds like it might be a varitone without the inductor.

Yeah, after gettin all the pictures together, decided no. This was hours ago, this decision. It took me a while, but I found someone in my area that will sell and Epiphone SG for 200, or trade for something of same value. Maybe I can finally just get an SG and be at peace.

TL;DR, fuck that guy's shitty guitar, I'm getting an SG.

It's on the strat. It will be all five positions plus bridge and neck, and all three together to get all 7 combinations. All three on a strat actually sounds quieter and not as good as people think it will be.

Can't say on a Strat but I have one on my Tele and it's a bit pointless for my uses. I get the whole idea that people want a big fat humbucker sound or something, but my guitars' pickups, at least, are all more or less balanced for volume and overall EQ for all my amp and pedal settings. Adding the series just gives you a muddy inarticulate mess that doesn't match anything. Good for shrill fuzzes but not much else. Maybe the strat bridge and middle might sound more focused and I'm a jangly kind of guy anyway so might want to disregard what I've said.
