Comp DuoStang build

except for the part where i said "fuck it" and buried it in... It looks fine from a distance, but if you look closely there is about 5 or 6 specs.. i got 2 on my head stock so it really is matching haha. It sticks with the theme of imperfections i can see that most people won't notice. Most my band mates are all like "that thing looks fuckin gross... fucking orange dude? does that stripe help you play faster or what?"HNB wrote:I HATE when that happens. Normally wetsands out though.Mattsican wrote:started clear coating it today... noticing a few bits of fuzz or lint or something have made their way in. hardly noticeable but fucking irks me nonetheless.

Well i finally figured out how to spray clear to where it's nice and wet but doesn't run... too bad it happened after i was on can 3 of 3 of clear. not super huge runs, but i can see them. one is directly over the stripe on the front. i'm gonna drag this last can out and hope that it melts it out enough and evens out. I'm just afraid that if i try to level sand on the run that's on the stripe i'll accidently sand too far and fuck up the stripe. other than the few runs, this filthy bitch is looking good enough to slap around in a bathroom stall for a good 20 mins. and i mean that in the best of possible ways.

Fucking goddammit. So on my LAST FUCKING COAT AND LAST OF THE CAN i turned around suddenly and smacked the fucking guitar on the corner of my bbq and put a good almost 2 inch scratch in the nitro in between above the stripe. it looked like someone had smeared hot glue with a pencil. i didnt gouge into the color coat it doesn't look like. in a panic i hosed the spot down with some nitro so it puddled up to hopefully fill it in/melt it together. i can still see it. luckily in my panic i didn't puddle over and create a huge run. but there's a gash. How fucked am i on a scale of 1 to fucked?

that heavy heavy coat didnt help much... so i pretty much just squirted a quick squirt directly into the gash (thats what she said) and tried to fill it and it ran everywhere of course. just going to let it cure. then hopefully slowly work out the runs with wet sanding and hopefully have it turn out okay... im still fucking pissed about this.

Next to my PS 'Stang..
With the hardware laid out on it. The fret board has a weeeeiiird color grain in the wood. i though about dying it even but may just keep it the way it is. i sort of appreciate its gnarlyness.
Congratulations! Your Punkacc9 evolved into Awstin.
Well after overspaying the shit out of that gouge i left it to dry the last two days while camping. I just wet sanded it lightly with some 800 grit and it seems to be fixed. i had to resist wet sanding the entire body it was sanding very nicely. must let it rest another month... anyways the gouge is gone. christmas is saved.

Wet sanded and polished the head stock today. Put the hardware back on also. I only used a medium stewmac compound. There are still a few polishing scratches and i may go over it with the finesse it polish a little to clean it up a little. I kind of like the slightly broken-in look it has though. Gonna let the body sit for about another week until i start that beast... my hand is dead from sanding and polishing just he head stock. here are some pics of the finished head stock.

Thanks! I sprayed it on a bit thick. Three cans of clear didn't completely bury it. I can still slightly feel it underneath everything. I'm gonna say a prayer and wet sand around it carefully in hopes i don't fuck it up.Mike wrote:The Comp Stripe is incredible

Wet sanded and polished with medium compound... still needs fine polish and swirl remover. Still couldn't resist stringing it up to see how it felt with strings... Def need to make a bridge shim, shit is unplayable, but feels nice in the hands nonetheless.
