She looks lovely. I just checked Dawsons' site but they're only in stock online ATM. I'd love to get my mitts on one and see how it plays, because they're effing CHEAP for a Jag (£255 round these parts). Almost enough to make me buy one blind without trying it out first...almost.Mike wrote:Yup, treated myself to a Surf Green Jag. More thoughts soon as been doing DIY most of this evening but here's some photos. Very happy especially for the price

Only things that betray the price point so far are
- rosewood is a little dry, needs lemon oil
- finish has some very small black spots in places but completely invisible unless at jeweller distance
- champher on pick guard is untidy in spots
Where it really counts it is superb, playability, sound, weight, neck feel, electronics. Thumbs up!

I'm really running out of excuses in that case! I was expecting it to let itself down on the hardware (which is often a PITA to find better quality replacements for with Squiers) or electronics/pickups, but it sounds like they've managed to do a really nice job. There's certainly no noticeable cosmetic corner-cutting on the pics there.
Dunno why the olympic white is over fifty quid more (must be something in the painting/varnishing process?) but I'd personally go for the CAR anyway. I'm impressed with the surf green though - I've always thought pale/pastel shades look plastic-y and washed-out, but that...works.

Are these FSR the same as the vintage modified mustangs ? but without the SD p/ups and with a branded tremplate ?

If so what's the reasoning behind FSR and then turning them into fully fledged production models ?
Are they just testing the waters and restricting availability initially and called them FSR ?
And why mustang only (first) ?
thanks

Now you mention it, my MIM J-bass has a few little black specks too, but since it's a 'burst I just assumed they were stray spots of paint. It's a gorgeous finish overall and they're only noticeable up really close.
I do wonder what sort of stuff the factory workers of these Squiers are breathing in though...
