Should have had a 1/4" headphone jack so you could stack them to get the real Brian May sound...

I was wondering how people used these amp simulator pedals, do people just run them into clean amps with a flat EQ? or are they purely meant for DI-ing/recording?

Either/or, I'd say. I have mine as a kind of pre-amp in front of my Epi Valve Jr. which has no Eq so is essentially just a power amp. If I ever do any recording again I might use it that way, or as a DI straight into something.

I only really started to think about getting one when my friend mentioned that when he tours he often ends up playing through amps he can't get along with and someone had suggested he gets one of the AC30 simulators for the end of his FX chain, so there's another application right there.

That sounds like a good idea. Playing in a club with a house amp that kind of sucks, plug a pedal into it!

I do that too using amp sims. If possible, I always try to plug into the FX return to bypass the house amp's pre for a more consistent sound.

Makes me miss the video of bearded Reece and his remarkably elevated spirits.

I had the "metal" version of the AMPlug, and I hated it. It came with this Ibanez ORM I bought on Ebay. Maybe the AC-30 is better.

I meant in front of my normal amp, just to make it sound like something it isn't. Just my two cents.

Isn't that what EVERY pedal does? Otherwise, you wouldn't need the pedal at all, eh?
