Been keeping my eyes open for a T'n'B 50 at a reasonable price for ages. They just keep going up in price, and I keep missing the bargains.stewart wrote:treble 'n' bass.

Eventually I will just become English Stewart. Depending on how much money I have at the end of the summer, both of these things are on my purchase list. Along with a new acoustic...stewart wrote:(un)helpfully i can't remember the exact amount i paid, nor find any record of the transaction.Freddy V-C wrote:£80!? Run that through a 4x12 and a 1x15 and you could kill a sheep, easy. They crop up on eBay quite regularly.
I was considering buying a Dual Terror at some point. But fuck that if I can get a Selmer for under £100.
Can anyone give me a good reason NOT to do this?
p.s. there's two SG-200s on ebay at the moment, one in glasgow sitting at £101.99
I can probably just not eat for a couple of weeks.
The original white vinyl issue of Bleach featured terrible kerning on the "NIR V ANA" logo at the top because the font was picked really quick as they rushed it to printing. That's also when they didn't know how to spell Kurt's name so they wrote "Kurdt Kobain" in an "oh fuck it" moment. They didn't fix it til '92.

It was actually from when Mexican Seafood appeared on a pre-Bleach compilation, my mistake... but it was spelled that way for that reason, the guys compiling the liner notes didn't know how to spell it for the author credit. Kurt adopted the spelling thinking it was cool, hence it's use on his personal letters/Bleach credits.

Got a few Selmer treble n bass head on ye olde watch list. They all seem to be around £300 or so, mostly buy it now. I'll keep an eye on the auctions but if they start to creep up to £250-£300 then I'll probably shelve the whole thing and save for the Dark Terror next month.
Cabwise I think I'll be going with a Montage Intro or Roadkill 2x12 closed back cab from eBay, loaded with either Eminence Cannabis Rex or Swamp Thang speakers.

Have you not considered the Harley Benton cab from Thomann? It's noble to support small British companies but at £100 delivered it's more in line with your price range. You can then dump the generic speakers on ebay to recoup more.

Ply construction and closed back!
Also, I may have an 8 ohm Cannabis Rex speaker for sale by the time you're looking, depending on if I get rid of my tube combo over the next few weeks.

Already posted in the Bristolians thread, but I just bagged this on fleabay:

50 watts, apparently based on a Mesa Boogie, hand-wired in the UK by some apparently big name amp dude (some relation to Matamp or something) though I can't seem to find out who that is or anything.
Now I just have to convince him to post it without charging me something ball-breaking like £30 or something.

Edit: Apparently built by... ??
Seems like the White Music Store originally had amps made by Matamp (the black GT120 ones) but later also had other models built by another workshop.

Great score though. The look reminds me a little of some awesome old NZ Mesa clones called "Rockit" that often come up for sale really cheap. Most common models seem to be single speaker, 135 watt combos! I think they're based on the Mark I.

It's here.

Can't play it yet as I have no speakers at the house but I'll try it through the AC30 speakers tomorrow (combined load of 60 watts I think so it should be alright) and possibly through the Sound City cab at the practice room on Friday. If I do that I'll try and record a phone video demo, so it's going to sound like SHIIIIIIT but at least you'll see it switched on and somewhat rocking.
One question for people that actually know about this shit; it has two sockets for speaker outs but says only 16 ohms. So does it just have two 16 ohm outs and no 8 ohm out?
I had my heart set on a black Orange 2x12 cabinet but the £350 ones are "compact" and open back soooo... maybe not. I might end up going with the Roadkill Cabs Badger, a big 2x12 enclosure but without speakers. So if I'm fitting them myself, how do I wire it for 16ohms with two 16ohm speakers? I know literally nothing about this shit.
