Funny thing though I guess he hated the Toro and only used it because the director asked him to. I read up more on the Atomic Humbuckers this has. They sound good. Seymour Duncan's forum basically said they are Fender JB's.

Guitar Center are straight up shady when it comes to Gibson cases sometimes. Even though the guitar came from the factory in the $200-by-itself case (ridiculous, I know) and is meant to be sold in said case, GC will try to give you a Gibson in a cheaper SKB one or something and claim the OEM one is an extra-cost option (probably so they can sell it on it's own for $200). When my brother got his Les Paul he went "ok, I'll buy the guitar somewhere else then" up at the register and the guy was like "wait wait wait let me ask my manager [gone for 6 seconds] ok, you can have the Gibson case." By then he was asking for some free packs of D'Addarios and shit too with a big grin, which he also got.

Totally. Even when you do get a guitar with the right case, check your reciept. You will see a seperate price for the case that is supposed to come with it. They give it a seperate number so it can be selled seperately....
Nice that he got the case. Hopefully the COA was the right one. I have seen people write about getting the right case, but for someone elses Gibson. (The serials didn't match.)
I bought my SG from guitar center and it was used, and I remember having to argue with them about getting the case. They tried to tell me that it was extra, but when I argued that when you buy a brand new one from musician's friend it says case included, so this one should have come with one too. Then they went in the back and came back out and tried to pull my leg even further saying that they didn't have the correct case for it anymore. So I told them that I wasn't going to spend all that money on a Gibson without a case, even if it is used it should come with the case that it was originally supposed to come with, so they either needed to find me another case or I wasn't going to buy it. Then they went in the back and came back a couple minutes later and said they found another one that would work. I'm pretty sure it's actually the right case but they tried to dick me out of it. It's one of the brown cases with the pink lining, it lines up for the year that my model is from, since I have other friends with same year gibsons who have the pink lining cases. My friend in my old band had a black SG that they gave him the wrong case for, it was one of the silver cases, which I seem to remember being specifically for a certain model that wasn't the standard sg.

They really should just have the case and guitar listed as one item instead of trying to sell them out from the right guitar. It just kind of sours an experience that should be pure joy. No one wants to go in to buy a nice new guitar to be jerked around about a case that was made to go with it. That is just lame.

I should be getting a lot more money at my new job and I can afford to buy a nice guitar now.
I can't imagine not liking it, but I won't know until it comes tomorrow. They pop up on ebay so if you get the cash and want one of these, I would camp out there. Check each day in the morning or evening and see if one goes up.
She came today! The finish is excellent. Hardly any scratches. Only issue is it has the oh so famous neck finish crack. Doesn't seem to be at the neck plate, so I am guessing it happened to the poly finish from heat and cooling. I don't think I should be concerned. Thoughts?
Nah, they are just hairline cracks by the looks of it.
Its a beauty. If i owned that it would be a Case Queen, it will be worth some serious money in years to come, great investment.
taylornutt wrote:As long as the crack is only on the clearcoat and not the wood itself it should be fine. I wonder if you could buff it out.
Probably not, it seems to go though the thick clear coat. I don't think it is in the wood, so I am not going to worry about it. No cracks around the neck plate, so I think the pocket was just snug and paint cracked as the body and neck have adjusted.

Thanks! The orange is definately different. I am very pleased with it. It sounds good too!

I was VERY impressed with how clean it is. No dents or dings I could see. No scratches on the pickguard. Basically almost in mint shape other than the neck pocket. It has super low action with no buzz too. Not sure I could keep it in the closet. It sounds and plays too well.
