cheap and good bass amp

Post by sp3k »

So, the bassist from my band left the band. We have a new one already, but he's a guitar player. We need to buy an amp that sounds decent, can be heard with a drummer and takes pedals nicely.

If the style matters, here's the first ep from my band http://saurband.bandcamp.com/

Peavey TNT 150

My old bassist used one, I think he paid £30 and it sounded phat. Old Peavey stuff is solid.

Laney Richter RB8 (combo). I have the head-version, it's nice, sounds good even on guitar, and has enough power to cut through.

edit:

Ashdown is also really good for the price.

Old Peavey stuff can definitely be found super cheap, and a lot of it sounds pretty good and Peavey stuff is built like a tank! The only downside to Peavey is that it's all heavy as hell. I had a 4x10 peavey bass cab that was bigger and heavier than my mesa powerhouse 1000 cab that has 4x10 and 1x15 in the cab.
