Dimarzio Pickup Cover

Post by Gabriel »

Hi guys, I've got a Dimarzio Paf Pro that I was hoping to fit a nickel pickup cover to. However the pickup has hex type pole pieces, so it'd look funny using a standard pickup cover.

What I was wondering is if it's possible to fit a 12 hole pickup cover? Such as this Schaller 147N:

Would that allow me to have this effect:

I asked Dimarzio but they were no help saying that I should just buy a new pickup....

Not so sure on your initial question but i would be aware of microphonic feedback. I fitted some covers on a friends Gibson Explorer and it caused a lot of problems. At the minimum you need to solder the cover tight to the existing bobbin mount but ideally you need to do that AND wax pot the whole thing.
