are P/J bass necks interchangeable?

I've go a fender mim P bass and a squier jazz bass.. should it be ok to swap necks? I like the jazz bass neck better and want to put it on the P bass..

Interesting question... That's sort of my ideal setup, too.

I'd think if the heels are compatible that it would work, given the scales are the same but I'm posting in here mostly hoping more experienced members will chime in and tell us not to do this.

Fuck it. I'm sanding down the squier headstock and gonna paint it black and clear coat it.. ill let you know how it goes... I think it will work. I know fender makes some p basses with jazz necks and vice versa.

It should work fine. That's actually a pretty common mod.

P-bass necks ftw. Jazz bass necks are too slim near the nut.
