Love that they're 32".
Not sure how I feel about the two-pickup model, but the single is very tempting.

Hmmm, has there ever been a bass with a Tele body before?

I always wondered why the Tele bass didn't have a Tele shaped body, and why Fender didn't make one in that shape. Now I know. It looks fucking dreadful.

One member made a shortscale tele bass that looks absolute TITSOR. Very nice project indeed.

If these were 30" and the black one had an all white pup I'd be sorely tempted.

Maybe it's the colours or the pickups looking daft together but I can't get used to it.

I think the elongated body does more on that front.

But also, i tend to hold the bass neck in my left hand, so it doesn't really fall down very often.

The truth is, when I see "tele bass" I picture ANYTHING but this. A Schecter Tele, an ASAT bass, a '70s Fender Tele bass ('51 p-bass with WRHB in too-forward neck position)... but this is a Telecaster. In bass form. I absolutely love both the double and single pickup versions, really hard.

And I sincerely doubt it's super neck heavy given the strap button location and how heavy Tele guitar bodies typically are. Teles are really heavy. It at least wouldn't contribute to any serious neck dive issues I bet, not as bad as a violin bass or SG anyway. Hard to say without playing one but I imagine getting on with these swimmingly, I'm pretty much torn between the Jazz and Precision at any other time, leaning slightly more towards the Jazz.

That was always my response to people that complain about SG's being bad about neck dive. An SG is so lightweight though, that it didn't cause any problems. But with basses it's a whole different issue with a neck heavy bass. Basses are always heavier, and therefore harder on your shoulder, and when you have one that is neck heavy, adding the need to hold the bass neck up more while you're playing it makes for a much more painful experience, especially during long practices or long shows.

Yeah, regular, long scale is 34", short is 30", medium is 32"... and a few extra long scales are 35-38".

Not sure about a 32" scale being neck heavy. I can tell you from my experience that with a 34" scale Precision neck, they're definitely a neck-diver.

I read something elsewhere about this, and one guy said he thinks the VM Tele bass body is longer, so perhaps with the slightly longer body and slightly shorter than full-size neck it might work out.

This new bass might lead to some interesting mod possibilities, such as converting the body to a Thinline, or a Custom.
I know just enough to be dangerous....
