If Japan started using something other than basswood for their non export guitars. I'd totally be all over them. I may be tempted to get a hollow stang some day though. Hawt.

A lot of trans/burst finished Fender Japan guitars are not basswood because it has shit for grain. My '98 CIJ Jag is alder. And the strap buttons pulled out (but not on my JS which is basswood).
