Get the Russian, fix the battery issue. Then flip it for $$$ and buy whatever you want. Otherwise buy the Russian and fix it.

Hmm, sounds like a good idea.

I fucking wish.

EDIT: Fuck it, moneis from fixing a Black Russian sounds fun, but I also can't give a damn unless I know someone would want to buy it from me. So maybe I'll get the Black Russian if someone will buy, but I think I'll get the Tone Wicker Muff. Nastiness at the flip of a switch.

TL;DR IF YOU WANT A SMALL BLACK MUFF, MAYBE I CAN SELL IT TO YOU?

I was thinking buy it>fix it>sell it. Depending on if I can get a ride down to LA and back without any bitching about traffic.

Black Russian and Bass are pretty much the same muff. Tone Wicker Muff is supposed to be awesome. The standard muff is the only one I'd say no to, but that's just my preference.

Don't think. Just buy it. Whether you keep it or move it you should come out ahead.

I recently got one and I love it.

The Bass Big Muff replaced the Black Russian and was based on the Black Russian. Kind of a USA replacement for the Black Russian since they no longer make them in Russia. In the standard mode, the Bass Big Muff is almost spot on the Black Russian. The Bass boost and blending modes on the Bass Big Muff look really cool and add versatility. I plan to pickup a Bass muff for cheaps and compare to my Black Russian.

I've also heard that some Black Russians break down quick. I think I'd get a Bass Big Muff over a Black Russian, just for the dry feature. I heard some comparison clips of the Black Russian and Bass Big Muff on the Kitrae Big Muff site and they sounds similar enough to not matter to me.

So now my priorities are right around Tone Wicker > Bass Big Muff > Russian > NYC Big Muff.

Also, I'm thinking that I could try building an IC Big Muff in my Behringer Vintage Distortion enclosure (after some painting over), so I might just go with the Tone Wicker.

No brainer for $20, even if you flip it.
On the breakdown issue, EHX in general are lottery, not just this model. I've gigged a Black Russian (and circuit bent it at one point) for six years and it still works.

If you're going for the Tone Wicker, make sure you try before you buy. I had one for a couple of weeks earlier in the year. It was ridiculously noisy.

this is what happens when you waste time posting poll threads on shortscale instead of immediately buying the ridiculously cheap $20 black russian muff.
