Vox Apache Travel Guitars

Apart from the built in stuff they're pretty much a normal Vox Teardrop and Phantom (yes, I know that's not its proper name).

Wonder if this might pave the way for some proper reissues?

Looks like a nice bedroom guitar or would just be fun to walk around the house jamming on it. What's the cost?

edit: I see them for $299.00 on ebay.

One of these would be awesome for me to carry around to lessons so I don't have to always bring my acoustic.

I think I would be more interested in these without the built in amp, if I was interested at all.

+1. Cut all the built in electronics crap out and give me the funky body shapes on the cheaps with one pickup and basic controls.

Let's see, classic Voxy teardrop, dual-rosette speaker holes, heaps of topside details.

And what's with Vox scouting ss.org's own viljami for the demo yet deliberately cutting out the parts where he does the epic Scandinavian black metal chunk-chunkies?

I've been watching these for the last couple years at NAMM shows. Vox keeps displaying them, but this year, they finally started actually talking about them and thinking about shipping them I guess. They feel okay... the necks are a little chunky, although they are 24" scale. They feel semi-cheap actually. Not junky, just not super refined.

I absolutely agree with you guys. While I can see the onboard electronics being of use to some folks (and it does have an interesting mix of electronics...), I personally would rather have a nice, inexpensive, 24" scale Phantom, hold the blarney. Something similar to the hidden picture below would do nicely.

Still, if you look at the Apache, it's not all that far off visually. The bridge is different, and if you wanted to convert that, it would take a bit more work, but yanking the bulk of the electronics and replacing the pickguard could get you most of the way to the look of a 1 pickup Phantom for not much moolah.

The street price on the Apaches is about $299. At that price, I'd consider it a guilt-free modding platform with a lot of potential.
