How original is this Coronado II?

This looks pretty nice, but is it all original? The tuners look incredibly shiny.

They look suitably tarnished on the front, the back of them looks dead clean but the guitar looks like it's been looked after. My Coronado isn't any good as a comparison cos it has the white button tuners and the F casing on the back is VERY dull. The seller might have just given the guitar a good clean

I've been watching this one too.

Me too aha, I was wondering how long it'd take for someone to post it here.

I think that whenever something really nice appears on ebay and no-one posts it, you can bet that there's quite a few of us watching it!

hah. I've been keeping an eye on it too, although not sure if I love the colour or not. 27 bids already, the price will fly up at the end.

My tuners look just like that. Chrome too. Almost wish it had white binding, but a fella could get beat up.

I could be mistaken, but it's a stop tail Coronado that that has the bridge from the tremolo version Coronados like mine. They could have mixed and matched them at some point, but usually the stop tail models have the bridge with the wood stands not the Mustang bridge on two circular mounts.

As far as the color being original, in 1968 Fender offered Dupont colors, which could cover the white. They have a white Coronado Bass guitar in the 1968 catalog.

Good resource: http://www.vintageguitarandbass.com/fender/Coronado.php

I found another 1967 Coronado II pick online that looks identical to this one (might be the same guitar and has the tremolo bridge)
