Best Budget volume pedals?

I'm looking for one on the dirt, dirt cheap. I've seen some one ebay or under $40 brand new.

Anybody have an experiences with any of the cheap volume pedals? I also have an empty wah pedal housing, has anyone ever tried converting on those into a volume pedal?

Yes. I have one that acts as a passive volume pedal. Grab a volume pot and looking at the pot from the back with the lugs at the bottom, wire the input jack tip to the left, the output jack tip to the middle and the rings (ground) of both to the right. (and to the metal case of the pot if it's not well grounded by the pedal case). The value of the pot depends where you're putting the pedal in the chain; a 470K pot straight out of the guitar would potentially load up your p'ups, especially if you've modded to use 1M pots. I'd use at least 1M and/or probably look to put it behind a buffered pedal.

i have a cheapo bespecco plastic piece of shit i picked up off ebay for about 4 quid.

its volume/wah. the wah is god awful and only does ANYTHING in the last few milimetres of the sweep but the volume side is pretty nifty

It has a max and minimum volume range, and the max goes above and beyond your natural volume, allowing you to even use it as an active volume boost.

Not exactly what you're looking for, but I bought a boss me-20 multi fx from eBay for about £40 and the volume pedal on that is pretty good... the modulation / delay fx could be a little bonus...

this looks great but it doesn't look like they're easy to find in the states.

I understand how to wire up a volume pedal, it seems easy enough. My issues were more with attaching the pot to the pedal so it actually moves with rocking of the pedal and I MUST be able to set a minimum volume that isn't 0. So, I would have to come up with some way to do that.

If you've got the wah, surely you've got the rack and pinion or whatever the pot of the wah uses?

To set a minimum volume, just put a resistor between the bottom end of the pot and earth. This will alter the characteristic of the pot a bit but not necessarily for the worse.
