I just got an email back from the Dave Grohl company. He sent close up pics and they look immaculate. They also come with a hard case.
Congratulations! Your Punkacc9 evolved into Awstin.

On one hand I'm salivating at the mouth for some of these cheap cheap lovelies. On the other hand I fucking fear for being able to buy a big name brand guitar again without worrying if it's kosher or not.

Tread with caution me thinks.
Yeah I think you definitely have to be careful. The one I ordered from had completed 1200 or so with 100% feedback.

yeah, I always feel like sites like there, people are going to take your money and run.

$300 is still a lot to pay when the guitar may be made out of plywood, not have a truss-rod, and just be a piece of crap, that is assuming, they even ship you anything.

This is definitely a problem - you really have to know what you're looking for in the future I think. There are small differences, but most are replaceable - I can see a lot of people being sold these as legit.

That's a good clone of a recent Epi... scary for me as I'd never be able to tell from pics (although on second glance it appears to have no serial #) and yet still go for it if it was on eBay for a good price.

I'd still probably buy one of those Mustangs. This Daphne blue 'Stang looks nice. And this Blonde looks real purty too.

Remember to check sellers feedback before you buy guys. I checked one of them that is selling the Jazzmasters and the negative feedback said the guitar received looked nothing like the one in the photos (which was likely an actual US one).

I've not read all this thread and i did not want to dampen Thoms thread but... My local dealer said Trade Tang can be quite random to deal with. If they dont have exactly what you want they will send a variation of it thinking you will be pleased then be offended if you are not. By variation it may be from pups to headstock shape to the actual model. Quality is a lottery too.
Just thought i'd state what may already be obvious.

Totally - I don't want to be a massive advocate for TradeTang, there must be some really hit and miss sellers on there. I did spend a while looking at feedback and making sure that I was in contact with one with a lot of sales. I am also lucky that I could meet up with the guy and see/play the guitar before I handed any cash over. That said, I couldn't be happier with how it turned out.

The End

Post by 61fury »

This is the end
Beautiful friend
This is the end
My only friend, the end
Of our elaborate plans, the end
Of everything that stands, the end
No safety or surprise, the end
I'll never look into your eyes...again
Can you picture what will be
So limitless and free
no more need for Squiers, Epiphones and any other budget brand crap, we can eliminate the middleman, go straight to Chinese. It is tempting

Did you read my "Gibson" LP Custom thread?

Yes I did, but after I posted, it's impressive

Pretty much certain these are pics of the actual fender though.
I don't think those are fender pictures. The renaldo has a seperate jack plate portion linked to the main pickguard. That guard looks more like avri aside from the horn controls missing.

I looked at the Fender pics and the Thurston JM has the seperate jackplate. Lee has the one piece guard.

Anyone feel Japans/Indonesia's quality has been a lot better then USA lately for fenders or is it just me? I think these Chinese guitars are probably good quality. And that custom Les Paul looks really superb. I would post the pictures of the Grohl guitar but my fucking Flickr is getting full as hell. I'm gonna have to make another account I guess. If anyone wants to see more pictures of the Grohl guitar, pm me your email and I'll forward the email to you(:
