Duo-Sonic II project (link)
Hi,
My first post here. I'm building a Duo-Sonic II style guitar and thought some of you might be interested. The build thread is at TDPRI, because that's where I usually hang at.
Link to the thread:
http://www.tdpri.com/forum/tele-home-de ... build.html
Some notes:
- I'm still not sure about the bridge I made. It's a bit thin and the bend isn't good enough. I'll put it in and see how it feels.
- This is not supposed to be "vintage correct", but I hope it will look quite like the real thing (except for the colour)
I'll probably post some pics here too.
Thanks,
T

Welcome!
Man, this is great!! I LOVE that you're even making your own bridge! One hell of a project.

Thanks, guys! I'm still a bit scared to spray nitro on the neck, but hey there's always the first time.
There's a couple of other related builds going on too:

First I was like "NOOOO- why did he put such an hideous flame on it!!" but then I read on. Next I was like "lol, Tikkurila", but then I doublechecked and it would appear you're really from my neck o' woods. Cool build, nice to see there actually more than two folks here that actually care for MM's/Broncos and such.
Wild spirit of the Eagle, Black hawk, bird of prey design
Not very hard actually, much easier than learning how to play those damn guitars! I've learned all I know at the TDPRI forum... some very skilled builders post there. I'm just an apprentice.mkt3000 wrote:That is amazing.... if I had 1/10th the skill, I'd be trying projects like that too.

Yeah the paint is Unica by Tikkurila. First time trying this sort of finish, still learning...
Impressed, way to make practically the whole thing from scratch. That neck tapering trick is nifty.

Just went back over the thread again... freakin' brilliant stuff.

I decided it is finished now, maybe you want to see..
Body is just painted and sanded / polished. It will dent and scratch but I don't mind..
Neck is just shellac, no lacquer.
It's winter, snow and all, so no more spraying.
Looks like this:

The series wiring makes this an overdrive monster..
The self-made bridge will stay, even though it's thin and wimpy, but causes no trouble.
It's a joy to play anyway. Better than I ever expected..
Better pics later, no proper camera just now.
