Dual Drive Pedals
I'm using an Overdrive pedal with my Orange TT (because i want the option of a clean signal) but need a volume boost for solos to cut through the band mix. Obviously the amp is not two channel so switching is not an option. I tried an EHX Linear Boost but all it does is add more distortion and i like the idea of one unit doing two jobs.
I've never tried a Dual pedal (like Jekyll & Hyde etc) so i was wondering what peoples opinion of Dual pedals is. Do they give you that volume boost or just more gain?
Cheerz.

My old red J&H v2 worked great for the whole 'distortion plus volume boost' thing; lots of volume on the OD/boost side.
The sounds were less ideal though; the distortion had a very upper-lows/lower-mids woof thing going on that made palm muting a rumbly nightmare. The EQ options made it veeeeeery flexible though, and after doing a mod from IndyGuitarist, it stuck around on my pedalboard for a while.
The OD side was very 'obvious mix of distorted and clean signal' OD that I HATE as a standalone sound but made it great as the booster because it would add a little gain while still having as much note definition as the distorted sound.
.Old demo here.. Jazzmaster with Quarter Pounder in the bridge, J&H version 2, DSL50, 1936 cab

Not a dual, but the Klone I bought from Tim seemed to have loads of volume, and if you dialed back the dirt it could work.
This is the best stand alone clean boost pedal that I am aware of...... HZD
EDIT: Almost forgot that the Dingotone site has a custom shop that if you like one of their dirt pedals, they'll team it up with an HZD in a dual enclosure.

Check GFS' TS-9/TS-808 clone Here The 808 side would be a great booster.

Check out 0:52 in my demo for an example using a harsh, kinda scooped setting- it may depend on your amp/cab setup, but it sounds like there's a lot of 'pre-gain' EQing going on, making for that weird rumbly squashiness with higher gain settingsFran wrote:Doog wrote:the distortion had a very upper-lows/lower-mids woof thing going on that made palm muting a rumbly nightmare.
Thanks Dooglas, i'll check the demo.
Totally still worth a bash, mind!

Surprised you've not got a second terror and just switch between the two lol
I've found that my OCD works quite well combined with saltboost. Use the boost first then add the OCD afterwards for more gain/change of tone.

I have a trex od pedal with a built in clean boost that has PLENTY of volume. In fact I have to dial it BACK!
I don't know the model or owt like that but it's the two foot switch mint green jobby. Well worth trying out.
As a side note have you tried using a graphic eq for solo hikes? It's my latest fad, works really well
