So here's mine with a 3rd time lucky pickup. I went with my old fav, a cool rails which I also have in my jag. Really pleased with how it sounds. I've also flipped & locked the trem and fitted a tunomatic. Love it, definitely a keeper.
Anyone know what pots are in these ? Sounds a fair bit darker than my jag.
Cheers

It's just from an old Epiphone Les Paul Standard... I'm not sure they can be bought by themselves. I got it from a damaged Epi that was beyong repair.
I had to orientate the cool rails the other way round to the norm because the wires lead out of the side on the pickup and require space (opposite to the strats triangular bridge route) ...and this is why I scrubbed out the lettering on the p/up as it kinda read upside down haha.
It's like a standard mustang route.Concretebadger wrote:What are the pickup routs like in the VM 'stangs? I'm thinking about using one of these as the starting point for my Jazzstang project since the trem might be easier to mod than the Pawn Shop's hardtail. If there's room inside these for a pair of humbuckers, I'm golden.

Did it drop straight in?othomas2 wrote:It's just from an old Epiphone Les Paul Standard... I'm not sure they can be bought by themselves. I got it from a damaged Epi that was beyong repair.
Does the string spacing match, or do the outer strings angle outwards towards their saddles?
I thought LPs had a flatter fretboard radius than the VMs? The saddle heights on TOMs are non-adjustable, no?
(Sorry for the anal questions.)
The radius and spacing should be good here but the thimbles will need to be pulled and replaced. I have one of these an am thinking of using on my jagstang.

That's the right way to do it, I ended up just using the original thimbles and filing / sanding the studs and underneath the bridge to suit, as I did on my Jag.... Still needs a bit more off as does the nut, but once it's there it'll be all good. May just use a slightly thicker shim to compensate.
Don't know how well it'll match up if the original thimbles are used, but again.... probably the safest bet in the fact the you can adjust the action easily.
Strings spacing is a little tighter which is a little noticeable but fine after a week when you get used to it, and the radius is just fine on this. Same radius as the Epiphones that this bridge is from.
