George L cables.. or similar?

Indeed, good point Paul. And theyâ€™d still be easily repairable, which is why Iâ€™d want to make my own anyway.

Gabriel, still open to the idea. Might be worth doing a proper headcount.

I was considering the Lava ones.

But then I realised that I'd rather spend Â£65 on something other than cables, so shitty patches will have to suffice for now. Plus, they're colourful!

I've had cables made up by this guy, very good and not worth the hassle of making your own for the price he charges. He left ebay a while ago but is on ebid, looks like he's about to leave there as well. Closing Down Sale

Also I think one of the budget companies is now doing solderless kits, Stagg I think.

I'd be far too afraid that they would be about to break the entire time.

In all honesty I've just been using the shitty Â£1 patchcables I buy from a local guitar shop for the past 5-6 years without any breaking on me.

I've used George L's cables since 1980.

in fact,

i STILL have one of those first cables i made, and it still works fine.
older brass plugs on it, now most of them are chrome.

i've rarely had a George L's cable fail on me, over the course of using them for 32 years.

and usually, it's because i did some bone headed thing like yank the cord.....

i've also used that little planet waves kit for making pedal board connectors, that worked pretty well,
but the plugs are kinda beefy....

these days, when i have new cables made, i have a Vendor that is close to me, build custom length leads
from Canare or Mogami cable, and use Neutrik ends....

and i can get these for a bit cheaper than the George L's.

but when i'm recording, i swap out everything for the George L's.

i like the way they sound.

Bill Lawrence also makes a superior sounding cable, the design is such that i bet George L stole it from Stich
