The only thing besides the saddles I can see rattling are the pivot/height adjustment screws in the post, which are a feature of both Jazzmaster and Mustang bridges. It's easy to adjust the bridge so high that the pivot screws fall out of the bottom of the post and the bridge is just resting on them crooked versus actually being attached. This would mess with the grounding if it's the bridge thimble that's grounded as well, as the bridge/strings would be moving on their contact with the ground as it rattles.
Wrapping tape around the posts isn't to stop rattle, it's to stop the design-featured rocking action. It's only useful if you never use the trem and are experiencing tuning problems.
