New Jag-Stang?

Post by Awstin »

Think this mash-up on Fenders site was just a way to click which guitar you wanted to see or a little hint that they are gonna make another Jag-Stang reissue? either way, pic worth saving :)

I'm sure the Jag-Stang will return one day. I'd like to see a modified one with a JB and TOM as that's how his actual JS ended up (and they have all teh bitz ready for the KC Stang, proof they know a thing or two about his actual stage gear).

It looks like the pickup HB for three base poles, and single coil for treble poles! At a slant.

The butt of the guitar almost has a Toronado vibe to it. I like it but not sure I love it yet.

A couple of mods Fender should or would hopefully make is no rhythm section on the upper horn. Maybe a solid chrome plate, but Kurt didn't use that. Also a hard tail since he didn't use the trem. It could even just have the bridge pickup and no toggle since he rarely used neck pickups. (Toggle and/or switches were usually taped down or ground down with a dremel to keep from knocking them.)

Also no basswood please.

So basically a Musicmaster with only a bridge pickup.

do not want any form of some ugly mix of a jaguar and mustang.

both guitars look great individually but that doesn't mean you can mix them. The jagstang and every combination of these two guitars that has ever been made has been an abortion. Even da kurtz knew it; hopefully his fanboys will too.

Kind of like the musicmaster. Maybe a locked Jag trem for looks and a blank plate for Jag elements. Just a bridge humbucker and TOM.

I kind of like guitar abortions sometimes. Not because of Kurt or anything, just sometimes fun to mash up designs and see what happens. Classic designs are cool, but playing with them can also be cool.

Fuck teh haterz: The Jag Stang is a member of that exclusive and elite guitar club - GUITARS THAT DON'T LOOK RIGHT STOOD ON THEIR ARSE BUT LOOK SWELL WHEN PLAYED. See my Yamaha SG7 for another example.

No offence to anyone but every version of a Jaguar/musang mashup I've ever seen just doesn't look as good as either a Jaguar OR a mustang. The Jagstang body is at least original, and some of us like it. I do agree it needs contours or a thinnner body though, and it looks bettwer with 2 slanted single coil robroes...

Punkacc9's was a resounding success in my opinion. Much support from all.

This is the most uses of the word "abortion" I've seen in an online venue that wasn't a political flame war. Congrats, shortscale.

The Jagstang is one of those guitars I'm not wild about aesthetically, but if I played one and liked the feel of it, I could easily be won over.
