swapping out mustang bridge to a Mexi Jag one.....

I am thinking of blocking my trem and installing it on my jagstang. How the heck do I get the thimbles out of the body? I have read the TOM threaded inserts are a tad larger so I'll have to drill it out a bit.

Probably have to remove the tremolo. Painters tape around the thimbles to protect the paint/finish. Flat blade screwdriver under the lip of the thimbles or possibly needle nose pliers.

I've done it before and used a hammer claw to pry them out. If you leave the bridge posts in and unscrew them enough to where the claws will fit under them, you should be able to pry the thimbles out. Just be careful not to ding the body. Painters tape or a small towel might help.

I put closed pliers in the thimble then open them so they get purchase and pull em out that way. That way you don't have to damage the wood/finish around the lip of the thimble.

Are they in by pressure or glue? Perhaps a little heat from the soldering iron....

removing the studs?
-Unscrew the top of the bridge stud until the post comes out. The bushing is still going to be securely fastened to the body of the guitar.
-Drop a screw into the center of the bushing. The size of the screw is not too important. The screw just needs to be thin enough to fall through the center of the bushing.
-Insert the bridge post back into the bushing.
-Tighten the bridge post as though you were reinstalling it. The screw prevents the bridge post from twisting down into the bushing. The bushing gets pulled out of the body of the guitar as you tighten the post.
Remove the bridge post and bushing from the guitar.
-Turn over the guitar body to get the screw to fall out. Repeat these steps to remove all of the bridge studs.

I didn't realist that it was a TOM style ^ that is the standard method for getting em out AFAIK.
