Although it looks like it needs you bass to be routed for a strat trem cavity, so not quite a drop-in option. But it does make me wonder why this has never really been done before.

It has... it's just uncommon.

Most bassists aren't interested in trems, it doesn't have much use for standard bass line playing... Hell, even in the VI communities I'm part of, a lot of players don't like that the Fender VI has a trem. That said, there are many who use it to good effect, including those famous dudes like Jet Harris.

I doubt I'd get a trem unit on a 4-string; but I intend to eventually add a Bigsby B5 to my Schecter Ultra VI.

I've seen them before on talkbass, but definitely not common. I figure if you have one, then you are playing really shitty "nothing but smooth jazz bass solo jam band masturbatory bullshit" music.

Yeah, so none of this four-string nonsense. Somebody make a trem for one of these:

Hahahaha, I think if I saw that bass in real life I would throw up, rub my balled up fists in the vomit and punch the person responsible for me ever having seen it.

Does anyone elsethink "conklin guitars," (or is that suppose to be "conkling guitars"?) sounds like a euphemism?

jazz is great but the fact that Les Claypool has them on his bass is reason enough not to get one.
