Chnlone has made a few pickups for me from scratch and rebuilt a set as well. You might try him.

talk to toez10. I had him essentially make me a tele pup with alnico IIIs, staggered pole pieces, and wound to about a 7.0k and they were the best tele pups I've ever had; I really dug 'em.

Rose Pickups does some good work, too. And they're a lot cheaper than Novak.
