Mounting Humbucker Rings to a Pickguard

Post by George »

I have a guitar that has a swimming pool rout. Trouble is due to a hiiiigh tune o matic bridge I'm going to need to mount slanted humbucker rings on it.

Would it be possible to mount humbucker rings on top of a pickguard with no wood underneath? I guess you could change the mounting screws to take a nut on the underside?

The height adjustment screws would hold it in place, but to sturdy it you will have to screw into the pickguard via the four mounting screw holes. As long as the pilot hole is smaller than the screw, the screw will hold.

Cheers, I think that might be the way, or swap for screws that will take a nut?

You could, though should hold the other way as long as the thread is decent enough to grab the plastic on the mounting screws.

Or, since any cracks would be covered by the ring, you could do it without pilot holes.

Ha thanks cur. So it's not that big a deal, just routing out enough space in the original pickguard I guess
