Painting? Routing? Set-up tips? Or just straight-up making a guitar from scratch? Post here, and post pics!

HELP ME. Standard humbucker ring for mini humbucker hole ?

Post by othomas2 »

I'm doing another setup for someone and they've asked me if I can also find a suitable ring for this ?

I've seen adaptors but only in black.

Anyone suggest a place ? preferably in the UK...

Guitarfetish has some that are mini-p90 conversion plates. Not exactly what you're looking for, but kind of similarlanq

Don't know where to get them though. :(

They're from the '70s Les Paul Deluxe era. These were the first LPs since 1960 (due to popular bluesrawk/burst-derived demand) and they cut the first bodies for P90s, realized everyone wanted PAFs, devised mini-hums to use up the P90-routed stock of bodies (as well as offering P90-equipped models, original Deluxe minihum rings are exactly the same shape as soapbars), then began routing them for PAFs soon after (having to snip the tops off the bucker rings to snug the pickup up against the fingerboard)... but shipped some with these plates and P90s. Ker-azy.

Found these on ebay. They're stateside though. And a bit pricey for what it is.

I got a laugh out of this part of his description.

Trademarked? Or Patented?

Sounds to me like the seller needs an IP law bitchslap.

What a shame, I've bought several of those in black from other guys on eBay/parts sites. I'll send their details off to him at once.

Well you've obviously bought knockoffs which was the same as taking money from this man's pocket. I don't know how you can sleep.

That's kind of the stupidest shit ever. He reshaped plastic to have a large hole in it.

Gonna have to sell a lot of those rings to afford to sue somebody.
