6 saddle bridge on CV Duosonic

Post by vidguy »

I did some reading here before I did this.
I have a Classic Vibe Duo-Sonic. Love the guitar. But I do play kinda heavy handed and it is always tough to keep my guitars in tune.
I bought the 6 saddle Bridge from Angela Instruments.

Fender Musicmaster 6 Saddle Bridge & Ferrules

54945 1 $24.99 $24.99

I tested and placed the bridge where at 12 inches it had some adjustment on the screws for intonation.
That required it being up into the pickguard. That's where the trimming came in.

I measured from the twelth fret and modified the pickguard on my drill press and with a file.

I drilled the through the body holes and then flipped it over and drilled for some ferrules I bought as well.
turned out great. Tuned up even better then before. I have no issue with string height at all. No Shims
Cost about $45.00 total with the ferrules too, I think?

Thats tidy. I'm about to put the same bridge on my Mexican Duo. Not looking forward to the drilling bit.

Welcome to the board Vidguy!
Nice first post as well!...I've got the same cv duo, and was thinking about replacing my saddles with the compensated brass ones you can get...
Good job on the pickguard modding....I've swapped mine out for a tort custom guard and mustang style control plate...
Cheap as chips, and the necks are fab in my view!

Cool. I love this guitar. Neck is a treat.

The pickups are just right for it. I play it through an Egnater rebel 20 with Egnater 12 cab, or my all 69 Vibrachamp
Sounds awesome in the middle position. I wonder if that's an Out of Phase position?
Rather sounds like the "unintended" out of phase between position on my 73 3 position Strat.

Any guitar with more then Medium Jumbo frets and I tend to chord kinda hard, with enough pressure to pull the unwound G or B strings in particular, out of tune. I do like 9's or 10's at most so the combination made the touchy intonation in this guitar a bit of a bummer. This mod was perfect. No qualms about hacking up the guitar. I bought it new at BestBuy for $240.00 out the door. Great Deal!
I'd like to see your guitar

TO anyone getting compensated saddles for the duo-sonic: Make sure they have a 1/4" barrel diameter, or else your strings are going to sit ridiculously high off the neck. Just google 1/4" compensated saddles. I have sung this song before and will continue to do so until all CV duo-sonic owners have their golden geetar in proper intonation.

I remember that thread. Why reiterate? This feels like an advert.

I like those bridges but they have a wide spacing. Those E strings are hardly over the fingerboard.

I got compensated brass saddles for my bandmate's CV Duo. Works perfectly. If your strings sit too high, that's nothing a shim can't fix.
