New Jazzmaster Assembly *Sound samples added*

I've been lusting for a Jazzmaster since I sold my 1976 in 2008 to help pay for college. A few weeks back, I was able to strike up a trade with Cooterfinger for a Jazzmaster body, pickguard, and pickup covers to pair with an Allparts 7.25 radius neck that I had on a strat body. Through some internet wheeling and dealing, I was able to pickup up the Trem, Mustang bridge, and a full wiring harness for $60. I wound myself some early 1960's vintage correct Alnico 5 pickups, and got everything installed.

The paint job was originally supposed to be a nice high gloss black finish achieved through the cheapest available spray paint. However, after a few blotchy spots on the back sent me out with the orbital sander, I've decided to go with the worn finish for the time being. Eventually, it will get a spruced up paint job, but I really just wanted to start playing it. It sounds fantastic, and plays like butter.

Yeah,
I was pretty on top of this build. I lucked out and found good deals on the bridge, wiring, and the trem, so I didn't have to put those things off, and being able to wind the pickups myself was a huge time/money saver too. I had all of the parts in hand before the paint dried, so it was probably the best timed-out assembly I've been able to do. I've already had a few people locally trying to take it off my hands, but I'm going to be holding onto it for a while. The only change I'm thinking of is to build a blocks and binding neck this winter.

Gorgeous. You don't see a JM with a maple fretboard very often, that's for sure. Well done indeed! *thumbs up*

I think it looks amazing the way it is. The finish reminds me of Oilver Ackermann's Jaguars.

Unfortunately for most, it was just a guy parting out it has Japanese jazzmaster, and selling the complete harness on the cheap. Good for me, but not as great as a source of dirt cheap jazzmaster wiring. The cost of the wiring harness was actually one of the things that was keeping me from doing a build before (I'm the Cheapz).

I did make the pickups for this one. The pots, switches, and output jack came second hand.
