My Mum bought it for me for birthday/xmas, can't remember. I wanted the flanger! I still have it all boxed and "like new"

Park me here. Absolutely hate them now, though.Noirie. wrote:
Oddly enough I was a Kurtz at the time I got mine, but I picked it out by going to a guitar store and buying the one that said 'distortion' on it in big clear lettering. I had no idea the Kurtz himself used one. I just wanted any pedal that could do that because I didn't want to have to bend down and press the overdrive switch on my crappy Squier 10w amp (also quickly turn the volume down to match the previous level as the OD channel was over double the clean in volume) mid-strum.Fran wrote:I expect a lot of DS-1 posts here as y'all fucking KurdtZ kids.

Stupid confession time: waaay back in the day, I got in the habit of practicing barefoot so I could just hit the overdrive switch with my big toe and not have to stop playing.James wrote:I just wanted any pedal that could do that because I didn't want to have to bend down and press the overdrive switch on my crappy Squier 10w amp (also quickly turn the volume down to match the previous level as the OD channel was over double the clean in volume) mid-strum.
That's impressive coordination.mixtape wrote:Stupid confession time: waaay back in the day, I got in the habit of practicing barefoot so I could just hit the overdrive switch with my big toe and not have to stop playing.James wrote:I just wanted any pedal that could do that because I didn't want to have to bend down and press the overdrive switch on my crappy Squier 10w amp (also quickly turn the volume down to match the previous level as the OD channel was over double the clean in volume) mid-strum.
I can't really remember. My first effect wasn't a pedal, it was a Fuzz Face circuit in an old Strepsils tin that plugged straight into the guitar jack socket. The components got recycled into an on-board fuzz and the tin was re-used for a treble boost
The first pedal I actually bought was probably the Carlsbro (Colorsound) wah

That's true enough.Fran wrote:Nick was into Wishbone Ash
I did build a manual phase pedal with only two stages using a dual pot, as featured in Practical Electronics magazine. It sounded pathetic. I think that pedal is currently a volume pedal, though I have the original (potted) wah circuit board somewhere. Could be worth restoring as I've never seen another, I think it was made by a local builder in Devon.

Cripes..My first was a Hendrix inspired purchase back in 1991...one of these shitters...
It lasted all of 5 minutes before the switch packed in, and due to my student budget i couldnt afford to upgrade it...
So...the shop swapped it for one of these...
Back then JHS rooled!...
I have to thank Kurdtz for the desire to play power chords...Teen spirit was the first thing i ever learnt to play...
