285mm = 11.22"
So the length from nut to bridge is less than a foot? How? Why? The basses are 14" scale. Pretty cute though.
I think this has been encountered before with Fender Japan; the measurement is half of the scale length.
The basses are 28" and the guitars 22.5" scale.

So... 22.7 for my MIM Duo Sonic is about like this.. Ok. that gives me a comparison. that's a lot of stuff on a small guitar.
when they did it w/ duos and musicmasters, maybe less pickups and controls made it all seem more reasonable?

It's exactly the same as a Squire Mini, which is perfectly reasonable, IMO.

This is probably an Asian-only thing, I don't see the downside to it at all... not everyone finds normal guitars and basses to be comfortable to play, and if they're calling it "Smart Size" and that's stupid, well they're Japanese so...

I didn't post it to ridicule it. I think they're neat. Great for little kids, people with small hands, and people who like to tune up.

I still say they're called "smart size" because they're travel guitars which fit in an overhead bin.

They're smart size because, if you have big hands, you can do like 10 fret stretches and shred like an asshole all fucking day, no problem. GENIUS

Those Smart Size series look interesting, especially the 29.4" (373.5mm*2/25.4) Jazz Bass (JB62SS).

That would be very interesting to me in HSS configuration.
