I have been wanting to get some different varieties of Big Muffs into my lineup. I really like the Sovtek Muffs from Russia so I asked Mike to make me a Civil War Big Muff.
It's such a smooth sounding Muff. It's like a Green Muff but without the gritty mid range. The sustain really rings out under your fingers. Each guitar reacts differently to the pedal. The Mustang is very direct and clear sounding. The Fender Coronado II is in feedback heaven, but it's the good feedback that is coming from the Sustain the BM is producing. My Baja Tele and Jaguar like it as well.
Stay tuned for video demo. I plan to do a shootout between this Civil War BM and my EHX Black Russian, which sounds similar to the Green Muff.

I am trying to figure out which guitar(s) to use demo the Civil War Big Muff. The problem is every guitar I use sounds amazing with it.
My Bronco sounds so crisp and rings out, not to mention the fun with the Bronco trem. This guitar is quickly climbing my guitar depth chart.
The Mustang with the low output pickups is a little more subdued than the Bronco, but so rich and full. Then there is the Baja Tele and Jaguar to think about. Maybe I can work a couple different guitars into the mix.
The Coronado II is just messed up feedback awesomeness. I am trying to figure out my video setup and a song list and I will get a video up soon.
Demo using my 1973 Fender "Very Berry" Bronco. I did a little shootout with my EHX Black Russian. They cover a lot of the same sonic ground, but the Civil War definitely smoother mid range. Mike really nailed it on this pedal.
Please forgive the playing gaffs. The fingers seem to work great until it's time to turn on the camera.
