Super Sonic tremolo arm size

Post by bubbastain »

I can't find the tremolo are to my Squier Super Sonic. I have a tremolo arm to my Squier Cyclone(new one) and it doesn't fit. It's too big. Anyone know what size I need for the SS?

It occurs to me that I have five Super-Sonics and only one arm. Weird. How do I measure it for you?

I think I might have found out. I'm seeing that they make a 5mm x .8 thread, 6mm and 10-32. I read that all made/crafted in Japan used the 5mm x .8. The bar for my Squier Cyclone is too big, so I guess that might be the 6mm. If you happen to have a 5mm nut you could see if your trem arm fits that. Would appreciate it. I'd like to order only once.

Thanks

I found the bar, and tried some bicycle fender hardware nuts on it, and they worked perfectly. It is a fine thread. So, metric, I believe.
As for thickness, the bar seems to my eyes to be between 4.5 and 5mm. Right about 3/16".
Hope that helps.
It also comes with a black plastic tip, not white.

^ Great help :)

I really think it will be a 5mm x 1mm thread. I don't have a SS to test but that's how metric sizes go. And all import Asian Fender/Squiers will be metric.

This is all really helpful. I've been wanting to pick up a black-tipped arm for my Super-Sonic to go with the black pickguard but wasn't sure about the size. Thanks, guys.

Thanks for your help Wadeaminute. I actually sold my SS. Before I packed it up I looked all over for the bar and couldn't find it. The bar I had for my Cyclone was too big. I went to the local music store today and bought a new bar. It's an AllParts brand bar part number BP 2321-010 Tremelo arm for Mexican guitars. The bar is a little thinner and the threads finer than my Cyclone bar. I'll have to see if I have a 5mm nut laying around or I might just bring it down to the hardware store. I'm going to be sending it to the guy that bought my SS. Once he gets it and if it fits, well then we'll know which AllParts bar fits.
