Wiring diagram for Lace dually

Post by mkt3000 »

So, I bought H8MTV's jagstang.

This one - with the single HB

I initially thought about putting a GFS Wideranger I have in there, but I think I'm gonna hang on to it for another project, and instead I just thought about putting a Lace Dually in there. Thinking Red/Blue or Silver/Red.

Anyway, I don't wanna change the guitar aesthetically, so I was thinking of wiring it so one coil is turned on/off via a push pull switch on one knob, and the other coil the other knob. Basically each coil to a coil cut switch.

Does anyone have a diagram like this?

Thanks!

If I were you I'd treat the Lace literature with a pinch of salt. I had a dually red/silver in the bridge of a Jagmaster years ago. Had incredibly complicated wiring (like you're describing!) but the silver and red coils sounded pretty much the same. I didn't think the pickup sounded as good as a conventional humbucker either, but I knew shit about guitars back then so I could have been wrong. I keep meaning to put together a silver/blue/red lace sensor strat like Bob Mould's at some point to see if that's the case.

I'm wondering if it's best to treat each coil of the lace sensor (the red and the blue) as an individual single coil, and to treat the push pull pots as individual kill switches.

ie- a 2 single coil guitar, with a master volume and tone, no selector switch, and individual kill switches via a push pull pot. Sounds almost like mustang wiring, without the switches.

Yeah that's how duallys are wired anyway, as two separate pickups.
