All About Necks.

This has been posted before, I still say he's missed the point by comparing two identically constructed necks. The one-piece Fender maple necks absolutely do sound brighter, the necks with laminate maple fretboards are widely known to sound similar to the rosewood boarded ones, it was much discussed in the '70s when Fender started doing that. Comparing an MIJ '57/'62 Strat pair (same pickups and hardware) is one way to hear the difference. One-piece maple necks also have considerably less sustain. Guy is funny but no smoking gun here, hence comments no longer allowed.

Yeah but people notice shit-all difference in practical applications, which is where he has cut his teeth over the years and where he is coming from. No nonsense, play it and shut the fuck up. This is where he is ABSOLUTELY correct. Maybe not the ultimate authority on micro managing tone but spot-on in his approach to the guitar. I am pretty much onboard with everything he says.
MyLesPaul and TDPRI members have basically banned him and harangued him on youtube to the point of him disabling comments, possibly because he is as vehement in forums as he is in his videos. These are the people that wear sandals and play in their kitchen searching for the golden tone but cannot play shit and end up talking all fucking day about how tonewoods, binding and different amounts of pickguard ply affect tone, which is mostly disinformation. It is a shame because now there are probably more or less the same amount of people who are fans and would show love in the comments. He's a bit of a hero in my opinion./fanboi
