If you had to have only one electric:

Talk about all other types of guitars. Jazzmasters and basses go here!

Strat. Because it is the most perfect, most beautiful and overall bestest thing ever.

I dont own one but I'll say Strat too.
They just cover more ground than other guitars, 3 pups, tremolo etc. and they require little maintenance.

Yeah, the very best Strat does rather knock everything else out the way.on all counts of playability. The only thing is I think I'd need smaller dimensions on the neck these days - maybe 24" scale with a slim fretboard all the way up. But that doesn't really exist.

I've gotten pretty used to my Ovation Viper as my go-to....if I had to temporarily be with only one guitar for a few years, I think that's the one. Pretty much the perfect telecaster in a smaller more comfortable body, solid built, beautiful sound, and the pickups are hot enough to do fake humbucker rawk tones.

Oh wow, that's really generous of you Eric. I'm sure the OP will be chuffed to bits that you'd offer him your guitar for his travels.

Samick

Post by Doug »

Well, I'm workin in Cuba for three months and was not about to bring a valuable guitar. I brought my late 1990s Jazzmaster knockoff by Samick. It really plays as well as my better guitars but I paid only $100 USD (used).

...and I brought my Danelectro Honeytone Mini amp. Just love how this little guy tries so hard... and so well... to match its big brother, the late 1990s Danelectro HT 50.

Cheers,
Doug

In your situation I'd take the jaguar personally.

My one guitar? My strat. She will be with me until I die.

My options are
MIJ Jaguar
66 Coronado (probably not taking this due to value)
Modded Squier 51
Parts Jazzmaster

??

Also what would you personally want as your one and only?

Don't see strat on your list of choices, but as others have mentioned I would choose a strat for all the same reasons stated above.

Strats have five sounds but I'd rather have a Tele and its three sounds.

But if I get to choose one, I already have my favorite customized Mustang that covers a lot of grounds, so that.
