Baby Taylor Win

Post by willlin »

So I went to the Taylor roadshow in Southampton. Despite initial scepticism it was a good laugh. Loads if free wine, and some rather nice guitars to tamper with.

Plus I came away with a t shirt, a set of elixir strings and... a Baby Taylor travel guitar. All free. I won me a raffle! It's actually quite nice for a weeny little guitar and sounds surprisingly good. It's definately nothing on a grown up Taylor but for a sofa strummer it's pretty impressive.

Awesome! We must get together again soon. Maybe we should actually try jamming and that - I'll have to learn to play in time though...

Baby taylors are very nice guitars. I have been to a couple Taylor Roadshows and they are fun. I have a Baby Taylor Rosewood and I use it for guitar lessons or a travel guitar. I moved my fishman pickup into it.

I did wonder. You were of course referring to my Magaluf '07 holiday snaps, right?

What's the point then? Please enlighten me,. See if he knows how to get a digital image onto the computer?
See how much trouble he's willing to go to, at some anonymous person's whim, for absolutely no benefit to either you or him?

WHAT IS THE POINT???

( see I know where caps are too)

I've got one as well, and you said it all. It is really comfortable to sit on the couch and plunk on something with. That's entirely what I use it for, actually. I wouldn't mind winning one either (if I didn't have one). Great score.

I actually put a pickup in mine too, one time when I was flying someplace to play and I thought I'd use it [after all it was supposed to be a travel guitar, right??] But when I got to the place, everyone had full size guitars, playing unamplified, and somebody just gave me a loaner and the Baby never left the case.

So based on my experience I wouldn't necessarily recommend going the pickup route for it, if you have a full size guitar to play out with.

But on the couch, it's fun.

MM - the caps are just a silly affectation you'll see a lot by long time members here....it's kinda meme-y I guess and not representative of anger....the comment I made is both wilfully silly but also true: people post pics of their totally non-unique guitars all the time regardless of a google image search. In the Squier VM threads do you see everyone buying a surf green Jag just saying HEY JUST GOOGLE IT? Nope. It's more fun. Communal. The reason is rather like 'show and tell' at heart and it's more personal. Most of all though it is the reason this exists in our emoticons:

((nopics))

So I agree you are right, no doubt, but in a different context it's missing the point. Please don't think I was disrespecting your opinion per se

I really like the look of these guitars - just as something to have at home to mess around with ideas on. I was pretty much sold on the idea of one until I realised they've brought out a Taylor GS Mini (mahogany) and now I really want one of those... they're a bit pricier at £415 but all the demos I've heard seem to conclude that they are excellent VFM.

The Baby Taylors are really amazing souding guitars though. I sat and played one in my local shop and I didn't actually want to leave without it. Unfortunately funds are slim at the moment so...
