I stained the bodies with bic ink dissolved in 91% rubbing alcohol and rubbed it in. The ink rubbed off so I tried to use tung oil to seal it. It still rubbed off......but it made the ink penetrate deeper and gave a reflective quality. Finally I finished it off with spray lacquer and finally the ink is sealed. I should have been a bit more patient on reassembly though...got marks in the finish.

The pick guard was roughed up with 220 grit sandpapaer and then painted with spray plastic primer. roughed up again. another coat or plastic primer. then I painted 2 coats of acrylic based paint (mid range $$$) I got at Michael's craft store. mixed white and a blue-green. It is holding very well.

Hi Trendsetters, newbie alert!
Just decided to do a short-scale project so I thought I'd better join
Saw some nice pieces on this thread that have inspired me
I just bought a Warmoth Jag neck so I'm off to a good start

Anyway, here's a pic of me and my L-series Mustang back in '75..I sure do miss her!
I've never seen another one the same 'Olive Green' colour so it's a possible early refin

Hi Dave & Fran...nah, that's the only pic I've got unfortunately
A lot of the Fenders that came into Australia were resprayed here
The importers would order in bunches of sunbursts (or whatever the standard colour was),
and refin them to order..the same thing happened in England
So it was prolly not a fender factory finish, unless it was a faded Sherwood Green metallic!

Here's a pic of the Warmoth neck I just scored...I'd like to put it on a Telemaster body
but I don't think anyone would make one for a 24"...would hafta custom order

My other idea was to get a Jag body with swimming pool and put my 3 Duncan lipsticks in...might be cool

It actually looks a bit like a recently introduced colour - Jade Pearl Metallic.

Since we're reminiscing about past owned short scales, just found a few old photos of guitars that once belonged to me. Maybe someone can help identify the hollow-body? I can't recall what brand it was now, but played smooth as butter:

Looks like a teisco or similar 70s Japanese brand.

That sounds right. For some reason I thought it may have started with a "G" like Guyatone, but I know it wasn't that. That guitar took a nasty spill one day and the headstock busted off. I was pretty bummed, but luckily I only paid $60, so no real big loss.

I initially thought Teisco, too. Silvertone definitely made one like that, but it's still a little bit of a guess as to which brand name was actually on the headstock. This one isn't quite right (bridge and switches are different), and although it says Silvertone on the headstock the image tag says Teisco.
